Chukwudi Dumee Onuamadike, popularly known as Evans, is a Nigerian alleged kidnapper.

He is sometimes referred to as “The Billionaire Kidnapper” because the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) believe he is one of the richest criminals in the kidnapping business in Nigeria. In some of his operations, he made amounts of up to 1 million dollars.

The Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria police force, also described Evans as a very smart, crafty, and intelligent kidnapper having evaded arrest for four years even though he was on a most wanted list in three states (Lagos State, Edo State, and Anambra State).

Evans was arrested in Lagos during the weekend of 10–11 June 2017.

Currently, he is undergoing trial on 52 charges of multiple murders, armed robberies, kidnappings, unlawful possession of firearms, unlawful possession of ammunition, conspiracy, among other charges.

Specifically, he is being charged of unlawful capture of Uche Okereafor in Festac area of Lagos State on 21 November 2017 and demand a ransom of $2million. According to the Director of Public Prosecutions, Ms. Titilayo Shitta-Bey, Evans contravened sections 409 and 269 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011.

Who Arrested Evans?

Abba Kyari and his men did. Abba Kyari is a Nigerian police officer who is a Deputy Commissioner of Police currently on suspension and relieved from all police duties pending the outcome of an internal investigation into his alleged connection with Gucci King, popular alleged fraudster Ramon Abbas “Hushpuppi“.

On July 29 2021, infamous Nigerian fraudster (Ramon Abbas) popularly known as Hushpuppi who is currently facing charges of money laundering leveled against him by the United States Government implicated DCP Abba kyari as a party in an international scheme to defraud Qatari school founder and then launder over 1.1million dollars in illicit proceeds.

On August 1st, 2021, the Inspector General of Police announced the suspension of Abba Kyari from duty pending the determination of investigation of his involvement in the Hushpuppi fraud.

In December 2021, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, submitted the probe panel report on Kyari to the Police Service Commission.

On 14th February, 2022 a video clip of Kyari was exposed where negotiated release of 25kg cocaine, offered $61, 400 cash.

QUESTION:

Was it not same Kyari that was said to have caught Evans?

Recently, Evans said he’s a dealer in ornaments and Horlicks and not guilty of the two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping brought against him and his five co-defendants.

He said his nickname was not Evans and that he was coerced into admitting being a kidnapper after the police, in a bid to make him confess, extra-judicially killed four individuals in his presence.

“I live at Fred Shoboyede Street, Magodo Phase II, Lagos. I am a businessman and I deal in ornaments and Horlicks. My lord, my name is not Evans and I don’t have a nickname,” he said.

He said prior to being apprehended by the authorities, he had never met his five co-defendants, except for the day they were paraded as members of a kidnap syndicate by the police at Area F Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos.

So who knows if Evans is actually saying the truth. What Abba Kyari forced him to admit being a kidnapper?
