Someone asked me this question, if prisoners are allowed to have cell phones or use Facebook in prison.

The answer is YES! Prisoners are allowed to use cell phone in jail.

Cell phones in prison are used by prisoners to communicate with family and loved ones. But prison phone calls can be expensive, and the prisons get profits from the phone calls.

However, inmates in prisons are not allowed to have personal mobile phones.

An inmate getting caught with a cell phone will usually mean going to the hole. And it could also mean more charges and getting your sentence extended.

 

A prison officer caught trying to bring a cell phone into a facility, you will lose his job, and could also be facing criminal charges.

As you can imagine, inmates having access to the internet would create all kinds of problems for prisons. So, the answer is “no,” you can’t have Facebook, Instagram or Twitter in prison.

Some do Yahoo Business while in prison here in Nigeria.

I’m not making this up, it is an obvious and verifiable facts. They work hand in hand with prison wards. Very common in Nigeria prisons these days.
