Gunmen Strike Again, Abducts 14 In Kogi State

 

Gunmen on Monday struck again in Kogi State and kidnapped 14 persons from Okunland.

The victims were kidnapped between Iffe and Egbeda, in Ijumu council area of the State.

Among the kidnapped victims was the wife of the late Peoples Democratic Party Zonal Chairman, late Barr Matthew Kola-Ojo, Mrs. Kola- Ojo.

It was her first trip after concluding the mandatory mourning period of her husband.

It was gathered that five persons were later released by the kidnappers but the late PDP Zonal chairman’s wife is still being held captive.

Confirming the story, the President, Okun Development Association, ODA, Chief Femi Mokikan said information at his disposal shows that it was eight persons that were released by the kidnappers.

He also said the kidnappers have established contact with a relative of Mrs. Kola-Ojo but are yet to specifically demand for ransom.

“The persons they (kidnappers) called was a family uncle to the woman, telling him they have Mrs. Kola-Ojo in their custody. But before they could state their ransom, the man’s phone experienced flat battery. We are hoping that they will call back today.

“I got the information about the Kidnapped saga about 10:30 am and we started shouting to those that matter including the Senior Security Adviser to the Governor for help.”

He said ODA in collaboration with Ijumu Local government officials are working round the clock for their release, urging for prayer for Okunland.”
